Volunteer

Glynwood offers a number of volunteer opportunities on our farm, at our public events and on certain special projects in our offices. Volunteering on the farm is seasonal. If you are interested, please contact Elizabeth Corio, at (845) 265-3338, ext. 126.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Veggie Crew:  2-3 individuals sought per growing season (Spring-Fall)

Minimum time commitment: ½ day per week plus training (1 morning beginning at 7:30am or 1 afternoon beginning at 1:30pm)

Responsibilities: Participating in the various tasks associated with the production of field crops for Glynwood’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program, including, but not limited to: transplanting seedlings, weeding, harvesting, washing and packing vegetables for CSA pick up and interacting with CSA members when they are on site.


Livestock Crew: 2-3 individuals sought per growing season (Spring-Fall)

Minimum time commitment: 1 day per week plus training

Responsibilities: Participating in the various tasks associated with the care of pasture-raised livestock for Glynwood’s meat program. Including, but not limited to, feeding and watering animals, moving portable electric fencing, moving animals to various locations across the property, collecting eggs and managing meat inventory.


Administrative Support: as needed for projects

Minimum time commitment: varies

Responsibilities: Support administrative, development and communications staff with various projects such as invitation and appeal mailings, research, data management, note taking, alphabetizing and office inventory. Seeking individuals with a wide range of administrative skills.


Event Support: as needed for events

Minimum time commitment: full day

Responsibilities: Support the Glynwood team at large and small scale events. Roles include: directing guest traffic to various locations on the farm, registering guests, taking tickets, leading children’s activities, directing traffic, taking electronic or cash payments, serving snacks or meals, setting up tables/chairs/other furniture and supplies, clean up, decorating and answering guest questions.


Work Party: 20+ individuals sought

Minimum time commitment: full day

Responsibilities: Working alongside a large group of (first-time) volunteers, providing support in a wide variety of ways across the farm and property. Activities could include: erecting a hoop house, painting, a variety of gardening or harvesting tasks, livestock chores, or whatever else the farm crew needs help with at that point during the season.
