Pest and Disease Management
Instructor: Ethan Grundberg, Eastern NY Commercial Horticulture Team
This workshop will start with an overview of the basics of plant pests and diseases. Ethan will discuss bacterial, fungal, viral and abiotic diseases, and then will focus on insect pests. You will learn identification processes and will walk through some specific examples that are most common in fruit and vegetable production in the Hudson Valley. The second segment of the workshop consists of a field walk, during which we will scout for and identify pathogens, discuss how to use ID keys, and determine what to do once a pest has been identified.
