Are you interested in helping to harvest leftover produce from our fields for donation? If so, consider joining our Glean Team! Gleaning, as defined by the USDA, is the practice of “collecting excess fresh foods from farms, gardens, farmers markets, grocers, restaurants, state/county fairs, or any other sources in order to provide it to those in need.”
At Glynwood, our Vegetable Team works meticulously to minimize food waste, but there are always instances where preparation for CSA or seeding next-season crops takes precedence over tending to ready-to-harvest vegetables. This is where our glean team, made up of staff members and volunteers from the community, steps in. With your help, we are able to donate gleaned produce to one of our food access partners, like Second Chance Foods, who can cook up the harvest into something delicious and nourishing for hungry families. As an added bonus, helping out on our Glean Team will give you the opportunity to dig your fingers into the soil and enjoy the gorgeous landscape at Glynwood
The Glean Team will meet on select Thursday mornings throughout the rest of the season. Click here for the application link, or email Farm Marketing and CSA Coordinator Ryan Stasolla at rstasolla@glynwood.org if you are interested in signing up.
