Dr. Liat Applewhite
Dr. Liat Applewhite is a double Board certified OB-GYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist based in New York City. She holds a MD degree from SUNY Stony Brook and a BA degree in American Studies from Stanford University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Applewhite has focused on high-risk maternal fetal medicine serving low income communities across the United States; including New York, California, Montana, and most recently Arkansas.
She served as the Vice Chairperson and Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in Brooklyn, NY and as an Assistant Professor at SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Applewhite currently serves as a Medical Advisory Board member to Oula, a health startup focused on delivering a more evidence-based and personalized pregnancy experience through combined obstetrics and midwifery practices.
In addition, she is as a member of various organizations and community groups, including, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), the NYCDOH Maternal mortality review committee (M3RC), the National Association of Investors (NAIC) and the National Medical Association (NMA).
She is an active board member of her homeowner association, in Sag Harbor, NY, which represents a NYS Cultural district designated community created by African-Americans in the 1950’s.
