by USDA as a national model for sustainable development, the Community
Leadership Alliance (CLA) trains community leaders to develop land
use plans that balance economic development and natural resource preservation.
At CLA, participants learn:
- The details of land use law
- Zoning and planning techniques that achieve sustainable development
- Skills in negotiation, mediation, and collaborative problem
solving
Throughout the four-day workshop, participants put their new skills
and knowledge into practice during extensive breakout sessions.
